The Perth Mint and Australia Post are pleased to celebrate the Year of the Goat with a stunning Stamp and Coin Cover.
In Chinese culture, people born in the Year of the Goat - 1919, 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003 and 2015 - are regarded as elegant, charming, artistic, gifted and calm.
The reverse of the coin depicts a family of three goats standing in a stylised rural scene. The Chinese character for ‘goat’ and the inscription ‘Year of the Goat’ also appear in the design with The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.
This uncirculated $1 coin is struck by The Perth Mint from high quality aluminium bronze and is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.
Affixed to the envelope are two official Australia Post 70 cent and $2.10 stamps. The stamps are postmarked for the first day of issue and the envelope includes Australia Post’s Seal of Authenticity and official number.
The stamps depict a stylised goat image and the Chinese character for goat.
The coin is housed in a beautifully designed card with a circular window revealing the reverse and obverse design.
