This coin contains a fragment from one of the silver bars that went down on the Nuestra Senora de Atocha (Our Lady of Atocha). Keep in mind that this piece of silver is over 400 years old!
The Atocha tragically ended her voyage on a reef of the Florida Keys on September 6, 1622, taking with her 264 souls many of whom were of royal blood. She scattered over 47 troy tons of treasure over 50 miles of ocean bottom. There were only 5 people to survive the wreck.
Struck in 2 ouces of .999 fine silver this 400th Anniversary Antique Finish coin features historic Atocha silver recovered from the wreck!
