The Perth Mint and Australia Post have released this commemorative to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of A.B. ‘Banjo” Paterson with a stunning coin and stamp cover.
Andrew Barton ‘Banjo’ Paterson CBE (1864-1914) is renowned as an Australian bush poet, but he was also a solicitor, journalist, war correspondent, soldier and author.
Paterson grew up in rural New South Wales, which engendered a lifelong love of he Australian bush and it characters.
His most notable poems include Waltzing Matilda, The Man from Snowy River and Clancy of the Overflow.
Celebrating his birth and lifelong achievements, this uncirculated aluminium bronze coin is housed in a beautifully designed card with a window to reveal the coin’s reverse and obverse designs>
The coin’s reverse features a photographic portrait of Banjo Paterson fringed by Banksia flowers.
His signature and the inscription A.B. “BANJO” PATERSON 1864 – 1914 along with the ‘P’ Perth Mint Mintmark.
The stamp features an image from Clancy of the Overflow and Banjo Paterson looking thoughtfully as he writes.
