The Perth Mint along with Australia Post are celebrating 100 years of Duntroon, the Royal Military College of Australia.
The college was founded in 1911 at Duntroon, located in the Australian Capital Territory, it is situated on picturesque grounds at the foot of Mount Pleasant.
Duntroon has established a rich history. Graduates have led Australian soldiers in every major military campaign in which Australia has been engaged.
Recognised as one the world’s leading military colleges, it proudly upholds a famous tradition of training and developing some of the country’s most accomplished leaders.
Struck by The Perth Mint in aluminium bronze, the coin’s reverse features the official Royal Military college badge incorporating the motto DOCTRINA VIM PROMOVET (learning promotes strength).
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coin’s obverse portrays the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Affixed to the envelope is an official Australia Post stamp. Postmarked for the first day of issue and includes Australia Post’s Seal of Authenticity and official number.
