The making of a Monarch
The Queen was born in London at 2:40am on 21 April 1926. This tribute honours the sovereign’s remarkable longevity, her steady hand as Head of State, and her undiminished devotion to duty as she continues to carry out a program of royal engagements at a pace inconceivable to most people her age.
Historic royal effigy
Issued as Australian legal tender, the uncirculated coin portrays Mary Gillick’s effigy of the young Queen Elizabeth which appeared on Australian circulating coinage between 1953 and 1964. The portrait overlays a backdrop of stylised wattle, Australia’s national floral emblem, in a design that includes an inscription of her birth date and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
The Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty, the sixth coin portrait to have been created during her reign, appears on the coin’s obverse.
Stylish presentation envelope
The coin is housed in a stylish coloured envelope with a circular window revealing its reverse and obverse designs. Affixed to the envelope, a $1.10 stamp portrays a contemporary image of The Queen, first day of issue postmark from Elizabeth, South Australia, bearing the date 21 September 2001.
The envelope also includes Australia Post’s Seal of Authenticity.
