The Royal Australian Mint remembers Australia’s vanished fauna with this exquisite 2019 $5 Nickel Plated Fine Silver Proof Coin dedicated to the extinct Lesser Bilby. A tenacious little carnivore, the Lesser Bilby inhabited some of Australia’s most arid deserts. The Lesser Bilby in its desert environment is shown on the reverse of this black nickel and selectively gold plated coin. A magnificent memorial to this lovely but obdurate desert dweller.
