Bounding Kangaroo Design
Gilded in alluring 24-carat gold, the prime focus of the coin’s superb reverse is two gleaming kangaroos. Capable of bounding at up to 70 km/h, the iconic marsupials are pictured against a stylised impression of Australia’s vast outback. Completing the picture is a representation of the sun, signifying the hot, arid conditions for which the land is justly famous.

Issued under the authority of the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coin portrays the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on its obverse.
