One of the most recognisable symbols of Australia, the beloved koala is perfectly adapted for its environment. With its grey fur and bear-like appearance, this marsupial lives in trees and feeds only on a specific type of eucalypt leaf.
Struck by The Perth Mint from 99.9% pure silver, the coin features delightful original artistry and is captured in the shape of Australia.
The Perth Mint will release no more than 6,000 of these Australia Map Shaped Series – 2014 Koala 1oz Silver Coins.
The coin’s coloured reverse depicts a koala carrying a baby joey against picturesque bush scenery and eucalypt trees. The inscription KOALA also appears in the design with The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark and year-date.
The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination appear on the coin’s obverse.
