Over the years, she has become one of the most unique pop characters, a symbol of the Japanese kawaii tradition, a global social icon and a source of inspiration for everyone.
To mark her 50th anniversary, Monnaie de Paris is paying tribute to this iconic character by minting collector coins featuring the one and only Hello Kitty.
The obverse of the coin features a Hello Kitty in a kimono outfit, a nod to Japanese traditions. In the background, fans, lanterns and cherry blossoms are reminders of Japanese culture.
On the reverse, ribbons, the main signature that she always wears on her left ear. The words "50th birthday" are also present as a reminder of her birthday. Hello Kitty holds the face value, the wording "RF" and the year 2024 are present on the coin.
