Divine creatures
In Chinese mythology, the dragon is a divine creature and an auspicious symbol of power, strength and good fortune. Throughout East Asia and beyond, koi are synonymous with harmony and happiness, and are also said to be lucky omens for marriage and fertility.
Strength and harmony
The coin portrays the representation of a Chinese dragon and a koi. The imagery includes a flaming pearl, a symbol of wisdom, and a ‘moon bridge’ – its high arch and reflection on the pristine water creating the shape of the lunar body often associated with purity or perfection. Also in the design is a ‘P125’ mintmark, signifying The Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary, and the 2024 year-date.
H.M. King Charles III effigy
The obverse portrays the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, as well as the coin’s weight and fineness, and monetary denomination.
