The Blue Fairy Tale is the first coin in the Fairy Tales series of the Lithuanian Mint. The new collector coin will take you back to happy-go-lucky childhood fantasies. A girl in blue suddenly enters a world of mystical creatures, miracles and enchantments, where animals and objects speak and chess pieces come to life.
The coin seems to blend childhood dreams and reality: the contrast between the two is highlighted by the coin’s distinctive packaging, which depicts a chessboard. The black and white boxes are like the juxtaposition of the real adult and the imaginary fantasy worlds, which cannot exist one without the other.
The reverse of the coin shows a golden-haired girl in a blue dress falling into a fantasy world.
The obverse features a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II surrounded by the symbols of the Blue Fairy Tale.
