Australia’s beloved bush balladeer, Andrew Barton ‘Banjo’ Paterson, is celebrated in this beautiful aluminium bronze 2020 50 cent uncirculated coin depicting his classic poem Clancy of the Overflow.
Paterson wrote Clancy of the Overflow in 1889 and was inspired by a letter he received which appeared to have been written ‘with a thumbnail dipped in tar’. From this evocative source material Paterson created the classic ode to the rugged bushman and the wild beauty of the Australian outback.
