This 1oz silver proof coin features a Chinese dragon in a unique rectangular format. The dragon is one of the most revered creatures in Chinese culture. A symbol of wealth, power and luck, it has long been associated with the imperial family, nobility and Chinese classical arts. Dragons are traditionally depicted in pursuit of a fiery orb known as a flaming pearl, a metaphor for wisdom and enlightenment which is often portrayed amid swirling clouds or mist. Dragons are frequently illustrated with their eyes glistening and mouth open in anticipation. Each coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.99% pure silver in proof quality, and issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965. The Perth Mint will release no more than 3,888 of the Dragon 2019 1oz Silver Proof Rectangular Coin.

DESIGN
The coin’s reverse portrays a Chinese dragon chasing a flaming pearl among stylised clouds. The design also includes The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark. The obverse features the Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, 2019 year-date, weight and fineness, and the monetary denomination.
