On September 20th, 1519 Ferdinand Magellan and his crew set off on a journey that would prove historic. Initially intending to connect a Western trade route between Spain and the East Indies, Magellan's fleet completed that journey before continuing onwards and around the globe. Demonstrating that the Earth was indeed round and not flat, Magellan's crew returned to Spain in 1522.
