Celebrating the 150th anniversary of his birth and his lifelong achievements, this 2014-dated commemorative coin pays homage to Banjo Paterson’s love of the Australian bush and its characters.
The coin’s reverse depicts a scene with colour from the popular anthem Waltzing Matilda, featuring a swagman in colour. A photographic portrait of Banjo Paterson is fringed by Banksia flowers, his signature and the inscription A.B. “BANJO” PATERSON 1864 - 1941. The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark also appears in the design.
Coin’s obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the year-date, the monetary denomination and the weight and fineness of each coin.
