In Chinese culture, people born in the Year of the Snake - 1905, 1917, 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001 and 2013 - are regarded as intelligent, graceful, independent, analytical and charming.
The coin’s reverse depicts a snake wrapped around a tree branch, the Chinese character for ‘snake’ and the inscription ‘Year of the Snake’. The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark is also featured on the reverse.
The uncirculated aluminium coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965. The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2013 year-date and monetary denomination are shown on the coin’s obverse.
Affixed to the envelope are official Australia Post 60c and $1.80 stamps postmarked for the first day of issue. The envelope includes Australia Post’s Seal of Authenticity and official number.
The coin is presented in a beautifully designed card that fits inside a similarly illustrated envelope with a circular window revealing the coin’s reverse and obverse designs.
This beautiful Stamp and Coin Cover will make a superb gift or collectable for people celebrating the Year of the Snake.
