2012 Australian Zoos Sumatran Tiger Medallion Cover PNC - Limited Edition
This year marks the 150th Anniversary of Australia’s first zoo. Melbourne Zoo was established at Royal Park in 1862 and is now involved in numerous international endangered species breeding programs and conservation campaigns aimed at inspiring the community to take action on behalf of wildlife and the environment.
Among the activities of Melbourne zoo is a captive breeding program for the highly endangered Sumatran tiger. There are currently five tigers at the zoo, including four cubs born in February 2010.
Cover includes a limited edition 60mm Medallion struck from Brass with an antique finish.
Weighing approx. 52 grams and is a whopping 4.5mm thick.
Comes with full colour information card and envelope along with commemorative Australia Post 60c stamp.
Postmarked first day of issue Parkville VIC 3052 28th September 2012.
With a limited mintage of just 7,500 covers , sure to be popular amongst all collectors.
