The Royal Australia mint produced this fine silver $1 proof coin to acknowledge with pride the Centenary of Australian coinage.

Following Federation and the establishment of our first constitution, the Commonwealth Government set about creating a unified national currency to replace the system inherited from England and in 1910 the first Australian silver coins were issued. Signifying Australia becoming an individual nation, the threepences, sixpences, shillings and florins helped our nation to emerge from dependence on the British.

The One dollar fine silver proof coin is a legal tender collector coin struck by the Royal Australian Mint to the highest minting quality.

Limited mintage of 12,500 coins.

The 2010 silver proof dollar coin's reverse depicts portraits of four monarchs that have appeared on 20th century Australian coinage. The coin design has the effigies of the following monarchs, from left to right: Queen Elizabeth II, King George VI, King George V and King Edward VII. The reverse also has the 'C' mintmark for Canberra .

The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the year-date (2010)
