2017 is the Year of the Rooster, the tenth animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac. This stunning silver typeset collection comprises four silver coins - a proof, gilded, bullion and coloured finished coin. 

The birth dates for people ruled by the Chinese Lunar rooster include 1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, and 2017. Those born under the influence of this sign are said to be hardworking, loyal, honest, and sociable.

Each coin is struck from 1oz of 99.99% pure silver and finished in a stunning range of popular numismatic treatments sought after by collectors and gift buyers.

Proof, Gilded, Bullion and Coloured Finishes

The reverse of each coin depicts a rooster, a hen, and three chicks standing amongst bamboo foliage and flowers. The Chinese character for ‘rooster’ and the inscription ‘Year of the Rooster’ also appear in the design with The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.

Australian Legal Tender

Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2017 year-date, and the monetary denomination are shown on each coin’s obverse.

Extremely Limited Issue

The Perth Mint will release no more than 1,500 of the 2017 Year of the Rooster 1oz Silver Typeset from the following maximum mintages: 8,500 (proof), 300,000 (bullion), 50,000 (gilded) and 170,000 (coloured).

Presentation Packaging and a Numbered Certificate

The Typeset is housed in a classic black and red display case and illustrated shipper, and accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
