2018 Year of the Dog Design
The reverse of the coin depicts a German shepherd dog and pup lying in grass with Chinese peony flowers in the background. The Chinese character for ‘dog’ and the inscription ‘Year of the Dog’ also appear in the design with The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.
High Relief Design
The coin’s high relief reverse and obverse are minted on concave surfaces to ensure the optimum flow of metal is achieved by the strike of the die.
Australian Legal Tender
Each coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965 and features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2018 year-date and the monetary denomination on its obverse.
Limited Mintage
The Perth Mint will release no more than 7,500 of the 2018 Year of the Dog 1oz Silver Proof High Relief Coin.
